Hi, I'm Cole.
I'm the founder of Plan Your Homestead. By day I work in clinical research, where the job is to ask hard questions, sift through evidence, and turn it into something a person can actually act on. Outside of work, I come from a long line of farmers — homesteading and working the land run deep on both sides of my family.
When I started looking for good homesteading resources online, I kept running into the same two extremes: lifestyle content that was beautiful but light on substance, and academic write-ups that were thorough but nearly impossible to put into practice. There was very little aimed at the person who just wants to make a sound decision and get started.
That gap is what this site is built to fill. Plan Your Homestead pairs a research-first approach with the practical instincts I grew up around, in the form of state-specific guides and interactive tools you can actually use to plan animals, gardens, food preservation, and off-grid projects.
